Urgent & emergency plumbing for Sydney — honest, priority bookings.

Burst pipe, active leak, blocked main, no hot water — we know it can’t always wait. We’re a local Sydney plumbing team (not a 24/7 call-centre service), and we’ll do our best to prioritise genuine emergencies — or tell you honestly if a closer plumber would serve you better.

A real plumber on the phone

When you ring you get a real local plumber — not a call-centre dispatcher. We’ll walk you through isolating the problem and tell you honestly whether we can help today, or point you to someone closer if that’s the right call.

Van already stocked

Every van carries the common fittings, flexi-hoses, valves and pumps most urgent jobs need, so once we arrive one visit usually fixes it — no coming back for parts.

Fixed price, no hourly surprises

You get a fixed price for the job before we start. No “the meter is running” pressure. If the scope changes, we stop and tell you first.

Southern Star plumber on the job

We’re a booking plumber — here’s what that means

Plenty of websites promise 24/7 dispatch. We’d rather be honest: we’re a local Sydney plumbing team that works its way through booked jobs each day. When you ring with an urgent problem, we’ll check what’s on and tell you straight whether we can squeeze you in today, tomorrow, or whether you’d be better off with a closer plumber. The one thing we won’t do is promise a time we can’t keep.

  • Real trade advice on the phone — not a call-centre triage script
  • Honest timing based on the day’s bookings and the van’s current location
  • We’ll tell you if a closer plumber can get there sooner
  • Fixed-price quotes before we start any work on site
  • Licensed, insured Sydney plumbers — not a franchise or a subbie shuffle

What counts as a plumbing emergency worth ringing about

Not every job is urgent, and we’ll be straight with you on the phone about whether it can wait. If you can see water on the floor, hear water running behind the wall when everything is off, smell gas, or the toilet is backing up — pick up the phone. Those are emergencies and we want the call.

  • Burst pipes, split flexi-hoses and cracked copper
  • Blocked main sewer causing waste to back up in the house
  • Hot water systems leaking water across the floor
  • Gas smell inside or around the meter — stop, ventilate, call from outside
  • Roof plumbing failure during heavy Sydney rain
  • Strata, commercial or kitchen water shutting down the business

What we do when we arrive

Once we’re on site the goal is the same: stop the damage, diagnose the cause, and give you a clear fixed-price quote before we touch anything. If the fix is in the van we’ll do it on the spot. If it needs a specialist part or a bigger scope, we’ll isolate the problem and book the proper repair for a date that suits you.

  • Isolate the water or gas at the meter so damage stops spreading
  • Walk the site with you and identify the failure
  • Write up a fixed-price repair quote and get your sign-off
  • Fix on the spot where the parts are on the van
  • Arrange insurance-ready paperwork and, if needed, a make-good quote for ceiling/floor damage

FAQs

Common questions about emergency plumbing

If you can’t see your question here, call us — we’re happy to talk it through.

How fast can you get here?
Honestly, it depends on what’s already on for the day and where the van is. We’re a local Sydney plumbing team, not a 24/7 dispatch service — when you ring we’ll tell you straight whether we can fit you in today based on current bookings. If we can, we’ll give you a realistic arrival window factoring in the drive from the current job. If we can’t fit you in today, we’ll say so and help you think through options — booking for tomorrow, isolating the problem yourself, or calling a plumber closer to you.
Are you a 24/7 emergency plumber?
No — and we’d rather tell you that upfront than pretend otherwise. We’re a local Sydney plumbing team that works booked jobs through the day. For genuine after-hours emergencies (overnight burst pipes, a gas leak at 2am) we’d usually suggest a 24-hour specialist or your nearest on-call plumber. During business hours we’ll do our best to prioritise urgent work.
Do you charge a call-out fee?
Yes — for urgent attendance where the scope can’t be confirmed until we arrive, a single attendance fee applies, and it’s credited against the repair cost if you go ahead. For quoted work the call-out is rolled into the fixed price. After-hours, weekend and public-holiday attendance carries a higher rate. Whatever applies to your job will be spelled out in the written quote before we start — no surprises on the invoice. If we can’t help — for instance you need a specialist service we don’t offer — we’ll tell you upfront with no charge for the phone advice.
What should I do while I wait?
For water: turn off the water main at the meter (usually in a box near the front fence). For gas: don’t use switches or flames, open doors and windows, and leave the house if the smell is strong — then ring us from outside. For sewage backup: stop using water inside the house. Your goal is to stop damage spreading until a plumber arrives, whether that’s us or someone else.
Do you work after-hours and weekends?
We’re a booking-first team, not an always-on service. For regular customers and commercial clients we’ll take after-hours calls where we can — that work carries an after-hours rate, which we’ll quote before we start. For one-off overnight or weekend emergencies, we usually suggest a 24-hour specialist plumber who’ll be with you faster. Whatever the hour, any charges (call-out, after-hours loading, travel) are always set out in the written quote — never added quietly to the final invoice.
Will you deal with insurance for me?
We give you a written report and itemised invoice with photos so your insurer has what they need. For bigger water-damage jobs we can also quote make-good work (ceilings, flooring, paint) through our trusted trades network.
Do you cover my suburb?
We work across every Sydney suburb. Based in Rydalmere we do a lot of work through Parramatta, the Hills, Ryde, Eastwood and the Inner West, and travel regularly to the Eastern Suburbs, Sutherland Shire and Northern Beaches for booked jobs. For genuine emergencies in the outer rings a closer plumber will usually be quicker, and we’ll tell you that honestly on the phone.
